MY DIARY AS A PORN PRODUCER (PART 11): ONE GONE, ANOTHER APPEARS!
It's been months since I've done an update about my nutty day job. Here's more truthful adventures!

I walked in my boss's office. I was nervous. I needed to tell him that I didn't want to work with Johnny Rotten again. (In fact, Mike had enough of him too)
ME: So, I guess, we're preparing for another 'Party de Filles' project, eh?
My boss nods.
ME: Is Johnny Rotten still gonna be the director?
My boss nods.
ME: Shit... I don't like him. He's a jerk. I don't think I can work with him again. We might have more blow ups, you know?
My boss didn't want to hear it.
BOSS: Jason, this is how it's gonna be. I know he can be a bastard, but you gotta be the better person.
I knew I was not gonna win the argument, so dropped it.
The shooting of 'Party de Filles 2' was gonna begin in a couple of weeks, after Johnny's 'holiday' in Cuba. Apparently, he had brought... (wait for it)...Tammy to Cuba to convince her to love him. Why was I not surprised. I knew he was making me looked bad (during the shoot) because he wanted her! He proved my argument! But of course, my boss decided to ignore what was going on.
Finally, it was the night before shooting (the day I dreaded), my boss walked in my office with Mike behind him.
MIKE: You're gonna like this, Jay.
ME: What?
The two just stared at me for a moment and built the suspense.
MIKE: It turns out that Johnny won't be directing 'Party de Filles 2'.
ME: Why?
BOSS: Well, he just called me up and said that he's still in Cuba and that he missed his Montreal flight.
ME: So? There's plenty of flights leaving Cuba for Montreal/Toronto/New York/Boston every day.
BOSS: He said that he'll only be able to grab a flight next week.
ME: (Laughing in disbelief) What the fuck?! NEXT WEEK?! Sounds like bullshit to me.
BOSS: Yep, it is.
ME: What a loser! I told you he wasn't a good cat! He probably didn't feel like coming back to Canada. I mean, he's in paradise with Tammy. Who would wanna come back from that?
BOSS: He put the project in jepoardy, he's fired!
I smiled.
ME: So, when are we gonna film this thing?
BOSS: Tomorrow.
ME: WHAT?! We don't have a director!
BOSS: Mike, recommended Ellie.
Ellie was a new up and coming director. He had done commercials and owned his private production company. He wanted to do porn, so he contacted us. We gave him money to do his first xxx film and after we saw the first cut, we were impressed. Especially my boss.
That night, Ellie came to the office. We sat down with him and had a little talk. He seemed nice and cooperative. His ego was none existant. We explained the project and he seemed game.
When he finally left, the boss, Mike and I had a talk. Mostly they wanted to know my thoughts.
ME: He seems like a good cat. Easy going.
But something inside me felt that Ellie wasn't who he led us to believe. I couldn't put my finger on it. He seemed to perfect.

The next day, we started shooting at this strip club around 11am. We had 3 top name pornstars and one newbie. Strangely enough, I knew the newbie through some friends. I'd seen her at the Saphir club a couple of times. She was goth and stuck out like a sore thumb, as the other pornstars were mostly blond bimbo types.
I pretended not to recognize her, but she finally called my bluff by saying 'I knew know you, right?'.
While I was preparing the camera, I noticed a fat dude on set. He seemed out of place. I turned to Mike.
ME: Who's the fat guy?
MIKE: He won a contest.
ME: What did he win?
MIKE: A day on a porn set.
ME: So, he won a day of waiting around for long periods of time along with cameramen blocking all the action. Fun.
Finally, we were ready. I told Ellie to be camera A (all the close ups) while I became camera B (all the wide shots).
The first scene went smoothly. The two girls (pornstars) were professionals. But as we were filming, I noticed Ellie's camerawork wasn't very good or stable. I brushed it off thinking I was only being paranoid.
The next scene was shot around 3pm. It was the goth newbie's first scene. But she seemed more than game. She was made for this job.
Near the end of the scene, she made the other girl squirt. It wasn't planned, which made it all the more cool.
The next day, we started shooting the 'talking scenes'. I had storyboarded (drawings that resemble a comic book which are done for movies) everything to make things easier (a trick I learned from filming my movie Affinity Point). Unfortunately, Ellie didn't want to follow them, and he began setting our shots to supposedly make things 'easier' on us. But it just complicated everything. Here's why:
He thought by setting my camera at a certain place, and his camera at another place we could film all the angles in real time. The only problem is that we had lights set up everywhere and boom mics were hanging from the ceiling. The strip club mirrors made things a lot harder too. So to prepare what he wanted to do took a lot more time than what was my original idea: shoot the storyboard drawings with one camera.
While we were preparing for this scene, I noticed that Ellie was acting kinda aggressive. We couldn't get the shots right. He seemed too much in a hurry and impatient. I asked my boss if he knew what was going on with Ellie.
BOSS: (sighing) There's a football match going on as we speak. He wants to get home and watch it.
I couldn't believe it. He'd rather fuck up a scene and watch a game, than not. He needed his priorities straightened.
I bit my tongue and indulged his stupid filmmaking ideas. But finally, after a hour (and tape) wasted, I started to get aggressive and irritated.
ME: (to Ellie) Couldn't we just follow the fucking storyboard? It would save us A LOT of trouble.
ELLIE: Fine, fine! How do you want me?
ME: Just go sit down. I'll film everything myself.
And I did. No problems, no headaches.
The last scene was this lesbian orgy scene. Ellie, was getting aggressive again, but this time it was towards the actors. He wanted them to get the scene done. (NOTE: sometimes scenes take long because the more girls are in the scene, the more make up/smoke/bathroom breaks they take.)
During a strap on penetration, one of the pornstars ripped her vagina internally.
PORNSTAR: STOP!!! STOP!!
She was too sore to continue, so we had to modify the scene by thinking up of new positions and stuff.
This angered Ellie who wanted to be at home watching the game.

Finally, we finished after a long day. We brought the footage at the office to look at it. And it was just as I expected: His camera work was AWFUL!
Never had I seen sloppier/shakier filming in my life. I was devastated!
I tried to save the film by putting as much of my camera as possible. But I was camera B. (the less important one) He was camera A which had all the close-ups.
My boss called Ellie to bitch at him. It turned out that Ellie was not a cameraman and when we gave him money to film his movie, he hired a real crew while he pocketed most of the money. He was just pretending he knew what he was doing for the money.
I knew something was off about him. I have a 6 sense for these kinda things.
